When Mary's Gone Crackers chairman and founder Mary Waldman was suffering from celiac disease, she switched to a completely gluten-free diet and found herself regaining energy and strength. As a cook and a baker, she experimented with recipes to create snacks that she could enjoy without worrying about an autoimmune reaction. Using gluten-free flours, grains, and seeds, she came up with a whole grain cracker made with brown rice, quinoa, flax, and sesame seeds.
Mary began bringing the crackers with her to dinners at friend's homes and restaurants, and sharing them. It became clear that there was a real demand for her deliciously crunchy, energizing, whole-food crackers. In 2004, she took the plunge and created Mary's Gone Crackers as a full-time business. All these years later, Mary's original ideals are at the core of the company: creating tasty, healthy, gluten-free snacks that can make everyone feel good.
