Sylvie Charles grew up in a family where everything happened in the kitchen: important conversations, schoolwork, meetings, connection, laughter, and joy. The food that filled her family's spirits and bellies was a way of living, created by her immigrant mother and aunt, who simmered aromatic curries, fried up delicious samosas, and stuffed the kids with dosas and idlis every morning before school. When Sylvie moved to California for medical school and residency, she was inspired by the combination of California's bounty of produce and the flavors and aromas of her childhood favorite spices. Now she's finally able to share those flavors with everyone, through these addictive chili sauces: spicy and sweet, combining a rich, traditional Indian heritage with the beauty and freshness of clean California cooking.
