Just past Placerville in the El Dorado foothills, the Grenache for this wine is hand-picked and hand-sorted. Fermented with native yeast in open-top fermenters utilizing 100% whole berry, 15% whole cluster, and 15 days on the skins. The unique color of this wine is lighter than to be expected from Grenache, it is a characteristic of the unique clone of the varietal. The medium-bodied wine has a noticeable tannin structure, with aromas of rose petals and hibiscus. On the palate is ripe red fruit and berries, with an underlying hint of earthiness. Pair with roasted mushrooms or lamb chops.
