When Sweetdragon's founder, Hway-ling Hsu, made her first batch of almond brittle, she kept burning it—but she was up against a market deadline, so she labeled it "Burnt Almond" and took it to sell. Made with California almonds, butter, and pure cane sugar, it was the first flavor to sell out that day, so she keeps making it to this day.
