Lilacs are very popular ornamental plants because of their attractive and fragrant flowers. They grow in early summer just before many of the roses and other summer flowers come into bloom.
In order to give your lilac the longest life, give each stem a diagonal fresh cut and place in a jar of clean water. (The diagonal cut increases the surface area for each stem to uptake water.) Every couple of days, change out the water and give another fresh cut.
