Boonville Barn Collective
Growing 12 types of chiles, Boonville Barn Collective creates farm-to-jar chile powders and whole dried chiles. Their flagship chile, Piment d'Ville, is a California-grown version of the Basque chile powder Piment d'Espelette. Everything is grown, dried, and ground right on their small farm in Boonville, CA. Although Boonville is in the heart of wine country, they are very proud to be growing chiles, something other than grapes. They began growing their chiles in 2012 after realizing they had a similar growing season and climate to the Basque county in France where their flagship chile is from. The hot summer day and cool, coastal nights help to produce some of the best chiles. Additionally, they use organic growing practices and are Mendocino Renegade Certified. The farm is woman-owned and extremely small, made of 4 people including owner Krissy Scommegna and foreman Nacho Flores. They are one of the only few farms that produces chiles powders in the U.S. and sells it under their own name. On each package of their whole dried chiles, they have stamped the harvest date on the back to show how fresh they are. Boonville Barn Collective's goal is to grow incredible chiles while taking of their land & team, and introducing new flavors in the kitchen from ingredients grown in California.
