In late 2017, a 26-year-old finance professional living in Downtown San Francisco decided to transform his passion for food into a business. Frustrated with corporate monotony, he Googled "How to start a food business in San Francisco" and Obour Foods was born. Armed with delicious hummus recipes and a belief in the importance of taste, integrity, and ingredient quality, he set out on this culinary adventure.

Starting with an LLC and a shared commercial kitchen, Obour Foods quickly became San Francisco’s favorite for hummus, tahini, and more. Today, Obour Foods operates across 17 weekly Bay Area farmers markets and boasts a flagship retail shop at the San Francisco Ferry Building Marketplace. Their 33-person team is dedicated to producing, packaging, and distributing their products with a relentless focus on taste, freshness, and quality.

Obour Foods stands out for its commitment to small-batch production in their own Bayview kitchen. They use organic chickpeas, soaked overnight for the perfect texture, fresh-pressed organic lemon juice, and freshly made tahini, ensuring the highest quality product. Their spices are carefully selected for their freshness and flavor, and they never use preservatives.

Environmental responsibility is also a core value at Obour Foods. They package their products in eco-friendly glass jars and have a farmers market jar return program that reduces their packaging footprint by 30%.
