Founded in 2006 in Southern Iowa, Milton Creamery is the realization of a family dream rooted in passion, craftsmanship, and community. Rufus Sr. and Jane Musser moved from Pennsylvania over three decades ago and, after years of farming, pursued their vision of creating a creamery that supports local dairy farmers while crafting exceptional cheeses.

From the beginning, Milton Creamery has prioritized sourcing fresh milk from small Amish and Mennonite family farms, each with herds under 120 cows, as well as a trusted larger farm about 85 miles away. Every farm follows strict quality standards, avoiding artificial growth hormones like rBGH and rBST, and Milton Creamery never adds artificial coloring to their cheeses. The result is all-natural, better-for-you cheeses with flavor shaped by the rich grasses, legumes, and forbs of Southern Iowa’s loess hills.

Today, Rufus IV, Junior, manages day-to-day operations, while Rufus Sr. shares Milton Creamery’s award-winning cheeses across the country. Jane continues to support the creamery while keeping her home front strong. Together, the Mussers ensure that every cheese reflects their commitment to community, sustainability, and a deep respect for the art of cheesemaking.
