Mikuna is a Latinx-founded, woman-led, Certified B Corporation with deep roots in agriculture. They are on a mission to change the future of food while leaving a positive and lasting effect on the planet. Mikuna utilizes the ancient and naturally regenerative Chocho crop, which is grown at an elevation of 11,000 to 14,000 feet in the cloud forests of Ecuador. It is cultivated using regenerative agricultural practices by indigenous farmers in Ecuador. Chocho has been harvested for thousands of years by indigenous Andean and Incan farmers, including the Tiwanaku before them. It is drought-tolerant, thrives on rainfall alone, and pulls nitrogen deep into the soil as it grows, making the soil healthier and more fertile for future crops. Chocho is naturally high in protein, fiber, minerals and vitamins. This powerful plant is good for you, good for the planet, and good for the farming communities where it’s grown. Mikuna makes eating a clean, plant-based diet a nutritious experience without the tradeoffs of a long, scary ingredient list or digestive sacrifices.
