Ile De France Cheese

Ile De France Cheese

Viroflay, France

The story of Ile de France begins in 1936, when French Brie was first transported across the Atlantic aboard the renowned ocean liner ‘Ile de France’—a ship celebrated for its Art Deco interiors, French cuisine, and onboard refrigeration that made this historic delivery possible. The Schratter brothers, Alfred in New York and Julius in Europe, recognized this opportunity and organized the shipment of Brie to the U.S., introducing Americans to the rich flavors and textures of French cheese.

Today, Ile de France continues that legacy, offering French Brie crafted and selected by expert French cheesemakers. Each cheese embodies the elegance and attention to detail that characterized the ship’s gourmet meals, reflecting generations of tradition and French Art de Vivre. From its creamy texture to its nuanced flavor, Ile de France brings a taste of authentic French gastronomy to tables around the world.

More than just a cheese, Ile de France is a celebration of French culinary artistry. Its mission is to share the passion for fine ingredients, meticulous craftsmanship, and the pleasure of savoring exceptional food—honoring a heritage that began with a historic voyage and continues to delight gourmets everywhere.
