These apples are grown in Sebastopol, not Hawaii! This is a non-patented, locally-adapted variety and Stan Devoto of Devoto Gardens says that he may be the guy with the most Hawaiian trees in Sonoma County! These low-acid beauties bruise, "if you look at them," Stan says, so they will never be widely commercially available. They are a sweet and juicy apple that bears a slight hint of tropical flavor. They'll only be around for a week or so, so give them a try!
