Braeburn apples were discovered in an orchard in New Zealand in the early 1950's, but didn't make it to the U.S. until the 1980's. It is not exactly known from which trees the Braeburn is descended, but Granny Smith is a possible relative. Braeburns are crisp and sweet, with a faint hint of spice to them, so there is almost nothing they can't do!
