Aval French Cider
AVAL means “apple” in Breton—the traditional language of Brittany, a region in northwestern France that’s been producing cider for over a thousand years. AVAL honors this rich legacy by crafting authentic, dry cider made from the natural fermentation of 100% fresh-pressed apple juice, with no added sugar or sweeteners.
The cider is produced exclusively by a cooperative of more than 335 farmer-members, who collectively grow and harvest a wide variety of apples throughout Brittany. This co-op model ensures that every decision—from pricing to strategy—is made democratically, with all profits reinvested to support the future of its members and maintain long-term environmental and economic sustainability.
At the heart of AVAL is a commitment to biodiversity, equity, and craftsmanship, preserving both the land and the culture that make their cider possible. Every bottle reflects a balance of tradition and innovation, crafted by real people with deep roots in their community and a shared passion for exceptional cider.
