Amawele’s South African Kitchen
Identical twins Pam and Wendy moved from Durban, South Africa to start a small restaurant in the financial district of San Francisco serving lunch and takeout. In fact, Amalewe’s is the zulu word meaning “The Twins.” After years of success running the restaurant, Pam and Wendy converted their business to an online subscription service and catering service.
Amawele’s South African Kitchen is the only company in the Bay Area to produce authentic South African cuisine. Using organic and fresh ingredients, everything they make is allergy friendly. Their food can be described as a melting pot of influences from various cultures such as English, Indian, and Malaysian. Using spices from all over the world and reforming recipes with South African influences, Amawele’s food is desired by all.
