Squid meat has a firm, chewy texture and mild, somewhat sweet flavor. Chefs love it because it's a near-blank canvas for flavor. Squid easily takes on flavors of any marinade or spices added. It can be grilled for healthy preparations or fried for indulgence.
Squid will toughen rapidly if it is overcooked, so take caution when preparing. A high cooking temperature and a short cooking time are recommended to keep the calamari tender.
