Fresh cases of organic California peaches arrive almost every other day to Smitten’s kitchen in San Francisco. From there, the peaches—skins, flesh and all—are cooked down with cane sugar (gotta balance sweetness and acidity) to make a mouthwatering peach jam. The fresh jam is then combined with a lil' bourbon, a supporting character that adds depth to the flavor (and, don’t worry, there’s only 1 teaspoon per pint, so this is still mostly kid-friendly). The finished ice cream is bright and rosy with peach flecks — sunshine in a scoop!
