Fresh Wild Black Cod is a very oily, buttery, delicious fish. Its real name is Sablefish, though some may call it butterfish. Prepared in Japanese restaurants with miso, mirin, & sake marinade, it is also great marinated in teriyaki or soy sauce. Best sautéed, baked, or broiled.
Black Cod comes from a small number of fishermen in Half Moon Bay, Fort Bragg & occasionally Pier 45 in San Francisco.
