'Pierre Grosso' Lavender

Product Details

Approx. 30-40 stems, 30-36" tall
Bearing that intoxicating smell which makes the plant so beloved, these long-lasting, narrow spikes of purple and strongly aromatic flowers from Oak Hill Farm come with many uses: cooking, oil extraction, or in a simple vase on your table. This 'Grosso' variety is Italian in origin and is often used to make lavender oil.

Trim the stems of this lavender daily while changing its water. Keep stems submerged in about 2 inches of water, changed daily and trimmed with fresh cuts periodically. Use warm water for best results. These beauties should last around a week in a vase.

When spent, hang upside-down in a dry, dark place to dry the stalks. Dried lavender has culinary applications, can be throw into a bathtub for a soothing bath for stress relief, and dried stalks can be used for incense.

About The Producer

Oak Hill Farm of Sonoma
Glen Ellen
Oak Hill Farm is 25 acres of productive farmland nestled against the western slope of the Mayacamas Mountains in Sonoma’s Valley of the Moon. The farm is part of a larger 700 acre property, which, as the founding property of the Sonoma Land Trust, is permanently held under conservation easement as protected wildland. For more than fifty years we have farmed using sustainable agricultural practices. Our temperate Mediterranean climate allows us to harvest over two hundred varieties of vegetables, fruit, flowers, perennial greens, and herbs over the course of the year. We farm responsibly with our natural resources and respectfully alongside our native California oak woodlands and wildlife. It is our mission, and always has been, to farm in balance with nature.Read more
