Gløgg is a wine-based Scandinavian drink traditionally enjoyed at small gatherings with holiday cookies and confections.
To prepare the gløgg, add the bottle of mix to a thick bottomed pot with the raisins, almonds, and 1 bottle (750ml) of red wine. Cook gently over low heat being careful not to let it boil. Remove from the heat when bubbles appear along the edge of the pot. Optional: add 1/2 cup vodka, brandy or aquavit, if desired.
Ladle the gløgg into mugs or glasses, being sure to include almonds and raisins in each cup. Serve immediately with small spoons, and to make it extra festive, top off each cup with a thin orange slice. Serves 4. #godjul
