Like the Hass, Gem, and Gwen, the Reed is a Guatemalan avocado species that is thick-skinned and very high in fat, with a superb texture and flavor. It is a big avocado! They are interesting looking--big, round and shiny; those unfamiliar with them would surmise that they must in fact be thin-skinned and watery. Nothing, of course, could be further from the truth. This is a 100% high-fat, wonderfully flavored and textured and thick-skinned avocado.
