Small Niitaka Asian Pear Trio

The Niitaka is a larger Asian Pear variety similar to the Hosui in its color and butterscotchy flavor.  If you let it ripen up a bit further, the sugars convert to alcohol, which give it an even more pungent sweetness. Some like to enjoy this pear by removing its more bitter, thicker skin from the sweet flesh.
