This richly sweet melon has green flesh with a hint of dulce de leche flavor. The texture of the Piel de Sapo is what sets it apart from other green fleshed melons; it is juicy and crisp at the same time! The rind has a brilliant green green and yellow pattern that makes it pop out amongst the rest. Piel de Sapos are one of the most widely grown melon cultivars in Spain and their name translates to "Toad Skin." Unlike some melons that smell strongly when they are ripe, the Piel de Sapo's thick rind provides a barrier for this indicator. The skin will become a bit more yellow as it ripens.
