The Pineapple Guava (aka Feijoa or Guavasteen) is the fruit of an evergreen, perennial shrub in the myrtle family. Though not a true Guava, its tropical flavor has notes of mango, pineapple and banana. They're harvested green, but will ripen up to have a yellow-ish skin and a bit of give to the flesh. Their aroma will be very strong when ripe. Slice in half and scoop out the cream-white inner flesh.
These Organic Pineapple Guavas were grown by Preston Farms in Healdsburg, CA, and brought to us by the good folks at FEED Sonoma.
