What’s a “strata,” you say? It’s the brunch dish of all of our dreams: a bubbling, cheesy, savory ham-egg-and-cheese sandwich deconstructed, something you can assemble the night before and throw in the oven while you’re still in pajamas. Serve at breakfast or brunch with fresh fruit and coffee, or at dinner with a glass of crisp white wine and a peppery salad.

What You Get:
Ham steakWhat You’ll Need:
SaltStep 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Butter or oil an 8x8” baking pan or an oven-safe dish and set aside. Cut ham into approximately 1” chunks, rinse and roughly chop a handful of parsley, and slice baguette (we halve it lengthwise, then slice across to wind up with half-moon chunks).
Step 2: Pour 1 cup of cream into a mixing bowl. Crack 3 eggs into the bowl, add a generous pinch of salt and pepper, and blend with a fork or whisk until the yolks and whites are combined. Add ham and baguette chunks, the chopped parsley, and about a third of the cheese. Let sit about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally so that the bread can soak up the liquid, then pour into the oiled baking pan. (If you’re doing this as a make-ahead, you can now cover the baking pan and refrigerate overnight or for up to 24 hours before baking.)
Step 3: Bake strata for about 25-30 minutes until it’s browned on top, bubbling around the edges, and smells incredibly delicious. The center should be firm and not runny. Dish up and devour!
