With winter weather here to stay, we’re turning to punches, nogs and mulled drinks to keep family and guests warm and cheery. This aromatic, spiced wine will leave your whole home feeling as “holiday-ish” as could be!What You Get
Bottle red wine
Bottle Four Roses bourbon
Ground nutmegWhat You’ll Need
Use a vegetable peeler or sharp paring knife to remove the skin from one orange, avoiding the white pith as much as possible (the orange skin is full of aromatic oils, unlike the bitter pith).Step 2
In a large pot or saucepan, muddle together 2 tbsp of brown sugar with the orange peel until the fragrant orange essential oil is released.Step 3
Add 6 oz of bourbon, the entire bottle of wine, 2 star anise pods, 2-3 cinnamon sticks, 1 tsp whole cloves, and 2 tsp nutmeg to the pot. Bring to a simmer over low heat (don’t let it boil). Simmer for 15 minutes, adjusting spice and sweetness to taste, then ladle into heatproof mugs and enjoy. Bonus:
you'll have plenty of bourbon left over, so pick up another bottle of red wine and start again!
