ReGrained

ReGrained

San Francisco, CA
Jordan and Dan, the founders of ReGrained, started out as homebrewers in their dormitory at UCLA. They were startled to find that even producing 5 gallons of beer at a time (less than a standard keg), they were ending up with massive batches of leftover malt "oatmeal" from the brewing process. Trying to avoid wasting all of this malty, aromatic oatmeal, they came up with a recipe for a "sort-of whole grain bread." It was tasty and they even developed a crowd of regulars seeking their bread! But they wanted to take it a step further. Surely other breweries were having a similar struggle with leftover grains, and they wanted to help divert this nutritious and flavorful food from the waste stream.

Baking bread was just too time-consuming and labor-intensive to be practical—not to mention its shelf life was awfully short. Jordan and Dan experimented with other options and finally landed on small-batch granola bars. Batch after batch was tested on friends and family until it became a full-fledged and delicious product. ReGrained bars are packed with protein and fiber, low in sugar (it all ends up in the beer, not the bar!) and of course, super-flavorful. Their mantra is simple: "Brew Good. Bake Good. Do Good." We're thrilled to be "raising the bar" along with ReGrained!
