Rainwater Ranch
Hello, we're Lee and Lauren.
Our lives as stewards of Rainwater Ranch began in 2014 when we bought the inspiring twenty-acre farm from Virgil and Marjorie Rainwater. We were inspired by their good care of the property, the trees, and their equipment for the 50 years that they were here, and we wanted to do the same.
Our first big project at Rainwater Ranch was to convert the seven acres of navel oranges trees to certified organic and the projects have just kept coming! For the first few years, we farmed the oranges while both working full-time for UC Davis and UC ANR, but then we realized that we enjoyed farming more than our day jobs and made the switch to become full-time farmers. Once we started farming full-time, we were able to take on a summer crop and started growing flowers around the time that Mike and Dianne Madison from Yolo Press retired from flower growing. Mike and Dianne generously mentored us in growing flowers in Yolo County. Our community of farmers, supporters, and customers continues to be at the heart of our work and inspiration.
We truly enjoy the day-to-day life on our farm. Of course, there’s always so much to do, and the list is never-ending, but there’s also so much simple beauty to be enjoyed in our land, the oak trees, the ever-changing sky, the seasons, the wildlife, and of course our silly animals too. We are grateful to share our organic products and slice of Winters with you!
