Hey. I'm Davey. I like food. I like bread. So, I started baking when I was in High School. Later, in college, my best friend planted this idea in my head that I could run his would-be café when he got rich. A decade passed and that plan didn't quite pan out—but I guess I ran with the idea anyway. I built a wood-fired brick oven in Oregon and taught myself the trade, then moved to California and worked a few places; most recently at Pizzaiolo in Oakland. I've just started Pain Bakery, and now I pretty much just make bread and friends here.
When we make food in our kitchen, it's a distillation of love and passion and care and focus and dreams made manifest.
