Mullineux Kloof Street

Mullineux Kloof Street

Swartland, South Africa

The vineyard of Kloof Street is located in the Swartland wine region, about 50 miles north of Cape Town, South Africa. The vines are grown in one of the most ancient viticultural soils on Earth, formed over 500 million years ago which lend to the taste of the grapes. It is a small family business, founded and operated by couple Chris and Andrea Mullineux. They follow a natural and sustainable approach to farming, not using any herbicides or pesticides. Additionally, they utilize cover crops, mulch and compost that they make on their own property and plant fynbos (indigenous plants native to the region) to promote a healthy ecosystem for insects. Lastly, their winemaking takes the same approach, where they use indigenous yeasts from their vineyards for their wines. In this sense, Kloof Street’s wines are a pure and honest expression of the soil, climate, and practices of the region.
