This 100% Chardonnay comes from the St. Martin monopole, which is a rare area of land in Burgundy that is controlled entirely by one winery. A notable example of a Monopole that is one of the most famous plots of land in the world is Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's Romanée-Conti Grand Cru.
Speaking of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, some of the vines that they own in the region neighbor the vines from which this very wine is made, making this bottle arguably one of Burgundy's best values. This is the only white wine that Michel Gros produces, and is simply astounding with its gorgeous nose of sweet baking spice, stone fruits, and lemon curd, its amazing depth and structure, and vibrant acidity. Pair with an indulgent holiday pasta with a butter or cream sauce, roast chicken, or just some Epoisses on baguette. Stunning.
