Domaine Huet

Domaine Huet

Vouvray, Loire Valley, France

Founded in 1928 by Gaston Huet with the purchase of the vineyard "Le Haut Lieu." The Huet estate expanded in the mid-1950s with the purchase of two additional vineyards -- Le Mont (purchased in 1957) and Clos du Bourg (farmed since 1953, purchased in 1963). Today Domaine Huet is owned and operated by American brother-sistor duo, Sarah & Hugo Hwang, who have kept the team in tact, including manager Jean-Bernard Berthomé who joined the estate in 1979. With his years of experience working with the appellation's greatest terroirs, Jean-Bernard and his team are achieving incredible transparency, purity, and balance in the wines of this world-renowned estate. Domaine Huet is THE benchmark producer of Chenin Blanc in Vouvray! All estate owned and farmed vineyards in Vouvray, which were purchased in 1928, 1957 and 1963 by Victor Huet. The vineyards are certified biodynamic and organic and are situated on Vouvray’s “Première Côte” (or “first slope”), which is home to virtually all of the appellation’s acknowledged grand cru vineyards. Soils are limestone-rich clay.
