Jim Churchill (aka the Tangerine Man) grows delicious organic citrus and avocados in the beautiful Ojai Valley in Ventura County, CA. He's best best known of his amazingly adorable Kishu Mandarins and his incredibly sweet Pixie Mandarins. Their soil is built up with lots of mulching, which also helps prevent weeds from sprouting up between rows of avocado or citrus trees. The orchard's mulch comes either from local tree trimmers or from the City of Los Angeles.Mechanical weed control, the hard work of those who refuse to rely on harmful, chemical-intensive herbicides, is one of Churchill's largest costs.
