Damian Magista founded Bee Local in 2011, after discovering that hives set in different urban neighborhoods in his hometown of Portland, Or. had completely different flavors, colors, and even textures.
The world of bees, beekeeping and honey is in crisis due to practices such as “honey laundering,” predatory purchasing, and harsh conventional/commercial beekeeping. Bee Local is committed to pushing back by creating a sustainable, healthy, and uniquely delicious honey by producing and sourcing from ethical and sustainable beekeepers from Oregon’s Willamette Valley to the Austin city limits and to the borough of Brooklyn.
